FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- November 28, 2017
The Larimer Chorale Presents Its Annual Candlelight Christmas Concert and Introduces A Candy Cane Christmas for Kids and Families
The second concert in the Larimer Chorale’s 41st season will be its annual Candlelight Christmas Concert. “The Larimer Chorale will revisit old favorites and explore new classics. Our unique presentation of holiday pageantry and inspiration features music from across different cultures, time periods, and genres,” explains Dr. Michael Todd Krueger, the conductor and artistic director of the Larimer Chorale. “This concert always delights its audiences and often sells out both performances.”
This concert presents seasonal music for accompanied and unaccompanied voices and for organ and brass. It includes a candle lighting vignette and inspirational readings and poetry. Members of the audience will also have the opportunity to join in the singing of traditional carols. This concert is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season. It will be presented on December 15 and 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins.
The concert will feature the Colorado Brass Company, under the direction of Larry Currey, and Alice Crawford on the organ. Guest artists include the Dickens Carolers of the Larimer Chorale, twenty outstanding vocalists, auditioned from within the ranks of the Chorale. Each Christmas season, they don their bonnets and top hats to perform at private parties and public functions through the region. They wear authentic 19th century costumes created from vintage patterns by master seamstress Marian Railsback, herself a Dickens Caroler.
The Larimer Chorale is introducing a new event this year – one designed specifically for our younger audience members. The Candy Cane Christmas concert will be a light, short (less than one hour), family-friendly Christmas concert for kids and their families. Select chorale members will appear in fun costumes, sing seasonal music, and lead guests in a sing-a-long. Rumor has it that Santa Claus himself will make an appearance! Admission will be by a suggested donation of $5 per child when accompanied by an adult. No advance tickets are needed for the A Candy Cane Christmas.
